Tullahoma Cross Country season is off-and-running

Tullahoma Wildcats Cross Country teams started their season in Cookeville Tuesday, with the Cookeville Jamboree. Both the middle school and high school teams competed.

The middle school team faired very well. Lincoln Bitton led the way for the ‘Cats boys, he was just 7 seconds behind the leader after the first mile and finished 36 seconds behind the runner who finished first. KG Nichols was the top runner for the Lady ‘Cats, she finished second overall for all girl runners. Nichols was 17 seconds behind first place after one mile and finished 24 seconds behind the winner. Every runner for the girls’ team finished in under 17 minutes.

The high school team had four runners set a new personal record, Brayden Johnson, Jackson Ites, Sarah Eakin, and Audrey Sohrabi. Sohrabi finished the 5k run in 24 minutes, 55.62 seconds, Eakin finished in 22:19.93, Ites had a time of 21:16.00, and Johnson had a time of 20:09.00. Another notable finish for the boys’ team was Will Swiger having a time of 19:47.00. Ellie Uehlein and Lexi Lester had the top two finishes for the girls’ team, Uehlein had a time of 20:58.00 to lead the team and Lester finished in 21:38.00. The teams held the 15th annual Midnight Run Saturday morning from 12 a.m. till 6 a.m. They recorded 51 miles in the six hour period.

The next meet for the teams is the Green Hills Invitational on Sat. Aug. 26 at The Hermitage in Nashville.
