THS Bowling holds ‘Meet the Coach’ event

The Tullahoma high school Bowling team held an event recently to introduce the new head coach of the team Derek Swiger.

According to Swiger, the event was a success. They had fun door prizes thanks to the Bowling Booster President Kim Perry. The team will be holding tryouts on August 16.

“I am looking forward to leading this program alongside Matthew Pilkington, the assistant,” Swiger said. “We plan on having structured practices to help with our physical game and mental game. We plan on having our athletes excited, geared up, and ready for the season by the end of September. I can’t tell you how much it means to have people believe in us and rally around a new head coach.”

Swiger says he has lots of ideas for the bowling program. The coaches and Booster Club have been meeting frequently and have planned a couple of fundraisers. The first one scheduled as of right now is a “No Tap Bowling Tournament” and silent action at Tullahoma Lanes tentatively scheduled for Sept. 10. The other event that is planned is a Car Show with food trucks and a cornhole tournament tentatively scheduled for Oct. 7.

“These fundraisers will help the team get new jerseys, meals, and buses for their season,” he said.

Swiger and Pilkington will be going to Columbia later in the month along with the other bowling coaches to make out the schedules.
