The Tullahoma high school golf team competed in the Lawrenceburg Invitational for the first event of their season. The Boys team finished third out of 12 teams with a total score of 326.

“Honestly we did very well,” said coach Barry Bishop. “I was really pleased. I think that was best score compared even to last year that we shot as a team in a long time. Felt pretty good about that. ”

Four of the boys shot their low individual 18-hole scores. Jack Hill and Alex Miller led the squad, scoring a 76 and 77. Following right behind them were Andrew Fulmer, with an 86, and Keegan Taylor with his 87. The ‘Cats were just 17 strokes behind the winners of the Invitational.

Myla Dennis was the only girl to compete for Tullahoma. She scored a 93, which was the ninth best score out of the 25 participants.

The Wildcats will try and continue the strong start on Monday in the Webb School Invitational at the Riverbend Country Club.

“Overall I’m super optimistic, just because just starting to see some stuff,” Bishop said. “I’m starting to see some reactions amongst themselves about wanting to play better and that sort of thing, which is always good.”
