Tullahoma alum Hollis Fanning has decided to enter the transfer portal after completing his redshirt sophomore season with the Tennessee Volunteers, taking his talents over the mountains to North Carolina State to join the Wolfpack.
Fanning pitched 14.1 innings, struck out 24 batters and allowed only two runs all season for a 1.29 ERA in his year as a Vol. He also allowed just 12 hits and held opposing batters to a .231 batting average on the year. The former Tullahoma Wildcat entered the transfer portal looking for a more defined and larger role moving forward. Even though he only allowed one run in his first 15 appearances, Fanning went weeks at the end of the season without a single inning before throwing against Charlotte in the Regionals and LSU in the College World Series.
This summer, Fanning is serving as a starting pitcher for the Kingsport Axmen in the Appalachian League and has gone 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA with 19 strikeouts, two walks allowed and a .118 batting average allowed through his 14 innings pitched in his three starts.
