An East Lauderdale Street home caught fire Sunday morning, leaving one person with a minor injury.
According to the Tullahoma Fire Department Interim Fire Chief Larry Sloan, the department received the call of a fire in a house at 409 E. Lauderdale St. on Sunday, June 25, at around 9:15 a.m., stating that the smoke from the fire could be seen at Station 1 at 613 S. Jackson St.
Once they were at the scene, they saw fire was coming from the rear of the house and initiated a fire tact from the outside and moved inside to knock the fire down. A second fire engine came onto the scene and gave the all clear after completing a primary survey to make sure no one else was inside the house.
“The fire was knocked down relatively quickly, it was basically confined to one room at the rear of the house,” Sloan said. “We did a thorough overall to make sure the fire was good and out and we turned the scene back over to [the residents].”
There were two adults and five children at the residence when the fire started, according to Sloan. There was one minor injury of second degree burns to one of the adults, but no requests for medical transport. There were no other injuries reported.
Sloan said while the cause of the fire is still under investigation with the fire marshal, it fire did seemed accidental in nature. Other than fire damage in the room, there was smoke and water damage throughout the house.
