Lawmen are looking for a lone gunman who robbed a Decherd-area market Tuesday in broad daylight.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, the crime was committed at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at Davis Market at 2481 Old Alto Highway. Witnesses said a black male entered the store wearing a surgical mask and pulled out a gun.

“He demanded money from the clerk at the register,” the sheriff’s spokesperson revealed. “The subject stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the business.”

Along with the mask, the suspect’s identity was obscured by sunglasses and a large hat. His crime; however, was captured on surveillance cameras.

Authorities are unsure of his getaway vehicle or which way he fled the scene of the crime. Anyone having information concerning the identity of the robber is asked to call Franklin County Dispatch at 931-967-2331 or contact the Decherd Police Department.

The armed heist is the latest in a rash of incidents that have occurred in Franklin and Warren counties. Authorities have not officially revealed if they think one or more of the convenience store heists are the work of the same bandit.
