Vape raid in neighboring county raises concerns

Parents are being urged to discuss the dangers of using vapes to consume marijuana with their children after a raid netted over a 100 preloaded vapes, all with THC contents reaching dangerous levels.

Investigators with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, the McMinnville Police Department, and the 31st Judicial District Attorney Generals’ Office executed a search warrant at a location on Willow Way in McMinnville this past week.

Upon searching the premises of the house, 221 vapes of various strands were located, along with three (3) firearms, approximately 2.5 pounds of marijuana, mushroom candy bars, drug paraphernalia and over $1,100 in cash.

Authorities say the search was particularly concerning to law enforcement due to the THC content contained in the vapes, which varied from 90% up to 92.9%. Officers, as well as school officials, are seeing an increase in use by students, resulting in many having to seek medical attention after vaping before or during school.

The effect of the extremely high level of THC contained in these vapes is extremely dangerous to the health and welfare of our youth.

“We are asking that you please discuss the dangers of vaping, and specifically buying vapes off the street, with your children immediately,” said Warren County Sheriff Jackie Matheny Jr., after the raid.

The case remains under investigation and arrests will be forthcoming.
