A Flat Creek community couple were fatally injured over the weekend in a head-on collision in Moore County. 

The victims, Lori and Gary Peels, were fatally injured in the Friday evening crash. Lori was the driver of the family’s Dodge Caravan which was struck head-on by a Dodge Avenger driven by Corbin Springer, 21, at 6:47 pm on Friday, April 21.  Lori was pronounced dead at the scene and her husband Gary died at Vanderbilt Hospital. Springer also sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The wreck happened on Highway 82 (Flat Creek Highway). According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Springer was headed southbound on the state route when he crossed the yellow centerline and hit the Peels’ vehicle head-on. All three victims were wearing seatbelts.

Charges are pending against Springer.
