The Wildcats middle schoolgolf team played their third match against the Westwood Middle School Rockets Tuesday. Westwood is the best opponent they have faced so far, but they were able to beat them in a close match 7-5.
“Grit was shown by all players,” coach Barry Bishop said. “We kept the pressure and focus on to claim some much needed close Flags.”
The match was close the whole time as the teams split the first two flags overall. Headed into the last flag the match was 4-4. Tullahoma came up clutch and took three of the final four flags to secure the victory over the tough opponent.
Everyone played a doubles game Tuesday. The Wildcats pairs were Alex Miller and Kayden Shultz, Jack Reed and Peyton Miller, Kyle Tipps and Reece Stewart, and Julie Ketcherside and Korbin Thompson.
Every pair contributed to the win, adding at least one flag to the total. The group of Jack Reed and Peyton Miller led the team as they won all three flags in their match.
The golf team will compete again on Monday at Willow Brook Golf and Country club against Coffee County starting at 4 p.m.
