Family Quilt
Wrapped in this homemade quilt
I’m feeling safe and warm
This ragged, old quilt is a family legacy
Blessed with beauty and charm.
Long ago the cloth was new and crisp
Its threads untouched and clean
Now our history spread before us
A reminder of the many forgotten dreams.
Hidden among these lovely patches
Are aspirations of young and old
Dreams of the wise and foolish
As the family story unfolds.
This old quilt is a keepsake
The stories it could tell
I rest content within its fold
Wrapped in the magic it weaves so well.
God’s love is that special magic
As each of us experienced His grace
Weaving itself through every thread
Into the patchwork of praise.
