The Tullahoma Wildcats have won their first two games this season without giving up a run as they followed up their 4-0 season-opening one-hitter with an 8-0 thrashing of Nolensville Tuesday night.
Pitching again set the tone for the ‘Cats as Baylan Tuten and Ayre Kavanaugh combined to surrender just four hits to their hosts. Tuten worked five innings on the hill, delivering 80 pitches, 51 of them for strikes. He fanned nine Knights along the way before being relieved by Kavanaugh who threw 24 pitches, 13 for strikes. Tuten got credit for the win.
On the offensive side of the ball, the ‘Cats scored more runs than they had hits as they tied Nolensville with four hits on the night with Andrew Fulmer, Evan Tomlin, Colton Emory and Hunter Hogan claiming those hits with Emory getting a two bagger while Hogan slugged a triple.
Nolensville had to platoon pitchers after a five-run third inning for the Wildcats. However, the trio of Dylan Ruck, Keagan Meece and Ryan Stein surrendered eight bases on balls although the pitching staff was able to strike out 12 ‘Cats.
Tullahoma was able to build on their lead in the bottom of the fourth by plating two runs. They added window dressing in the sixth with another run to set the final score.
