The motorcyclist involved in last week’s crash on Jackson Street remains in serious condition after colliding with a car and being thrown several feet from his bike.

The victim, Kevin Dwight Fults, 40, is reportedly being treated at a Nashville-area hospital for serious injuries.

According to the Highway Patrol report on the wreck, Fults was riding a 2005 Kawasaki, going north on North Jackson on Feb. 9 while the 17-year-old driver of the 2007 Honda Accord he ran into was sitting at a stop sign, waiting to make a left turn onto Jackson from Ogee Street. The name of the underage driver was not given by lawmen due to being a juvenile.

“The driver (the juvenile) made a complete stop and waited several seconds at the stop sign to let traffic clear,” the highway patrol reported of what was learned during the investigation of the afternoon crash. “(The driver) then proceeded to make a left-hand turn onto North Jackson.”

It was at that point that Fults’ cycle struck the front of the Accord at “what appeared to be a high rate of speed” and was thrown onto the asphalt several feet away.

No charges were filed against the juvenile.
