Embracing the power of prayer
At a recent NFL football game, being played before a national television audience, sports fans witnessed a tragic event unfold when a young man made a clean tackle then got up and fell lifeless to the turf with cardiac arrest. While medical personnel worked feverishly to revive him, many players from both teams dropped to their knees, not in protest, but humility. We are seeing that Christianity in America is shrinking. What I saw from these players was Christianity at its best. I saw a group of young NFL football players showing their faith in God as they fell to their knees exhibiting their belief in the power of prayer. I saw an ESPN football analyst leading a prayer for this fallen player on live national secular television. I have never seen anything like that before. Maybe we as human beings could develop a deeper faith, make ourselves, our community and our country more pleasing to God if we unashamedly exhibited our belief in the power of prayer as shown by these NFL football players as they prayed for their fallen teammate.
