John W. Bates, 90, of Lynchburg, passed away on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Tullahoma on Feb. 21, 1932, to the late Leonard and Hallie (Mitchell) Bates. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 5 at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Interment followed at Lynchburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please make memorial donations to Lynchburg City Cemetery.
