The News seeks nominations for Citizen of the Year
S
As the New Year gets going, the Tullahoma News is asking for the community’s help in naming its 2022 Citizen of the Year.
In years’ past, The News selects one citizen to honor as exemplary for their work in the community, be it with a nonprofit organization, the school system, a local business and more.
Past Citizens of the Year include former head coach and Tullahoma City Schools Athletic Director John Olive, TCS Board of Education Chairman Pat Welsh, local volunteers Marie Guilliams and Pam Bussell, former owner of Sports Plus Joe Barstad, Pastor Cedric Seay and Clifton and Jessie Campbell.
“There are so many wonderfully giving people in Tullahoma, and deciding who receives the honor each year is more and more difficult,” said Editor Duane Sherrill. “This year, we are asking the citizens of Tullahoma to help us honor one special individual by giving us recommendations on who they think has made a tremendous impact in the community.”
Those who have a candidate in mind can submit their suggestions (with contact information and a short description of why you feel they should be recognized) to Sherrill at dsherrill@tullahomanews.com. The nominees must live and/or work in Tullahoma.
Nominations will be accepted until midnight Sunday, Jan. 22. For questions on eligibility, contact either Sherrill at dsherrill@tullahomanews.com, Staff Writer Kyle Murphy at kmurphy@tullahomanews.com or call 455-4545.
