Wi-Fi high nets reefer charge

A local man was cited after he was caught allegedly fogging one up while enjoying free Wi-Fi in the Ollie’s parking lot.

The suspect, Dalton C. Dunehew, 22, had the bad fortune of being in the parking lot when an alarm went off in the area. Police responded and his vehicle was parked between Ollie’s and Food Lion. Police approached his vehicle and asked him what he was doing.

“He stated that he was sitting in the parking lot using the Wi-Fi because he did not have internet access,” the police report revealed, noting the officer got a whiff of reefer as he was talking to the man. “I could smell the odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle. I asked him if he had been smoking marijuana and he stated he had about two hours prior.”

Police decided to verify his claim that he did not have any marijuana in the vehicle. That is when officers found 2.8 grams of marijuana and a half-smoked blunt in his center console.

Since the possession charge was minor, Dunehew was issued a citation and given a lift to where he could get a ride home since it was determined he did not have a valid driver’s license.
