Upon Falling in Love

We fall in love with being in love, before we fall in love at all.

Deluded that we have no control, as if our backs are against the wall.

Our actions become erratic, but we are forgiven of this rage.

Taking no responsibility, until we outgrow this dangerous phase.

This phase may last a season, or become a way of life.

Imprisoned by our hopes and dreams, which brings us only strife.

Those trapped in this eternal state, scorched by love’s desire.

Will embrace the chaos of the day, as a poet, lover or liar.
