Woman charged for posing as licensed nurse for 15 years

A nurse in Shelbyville faces 12 criminal counts after lawmen found she had allegedly been practicing as a nurse without a license for the last 15 years.

The defendant, Bobbie Gail Blair is charged with 10 counts of impersonating a licensed professional and two counts of identity theft. She is free on bond after being indicted by the Bedford County grand jury this past week.

Investigators say Blair, 49, worked in the medical clinic at Tyson Foods in Shelbyville and had falsely been presenting that she was licensed as a nurse, going so far as to use the license number of a legitimately credentialed nurse who practices elsewhere in Tennessee. Estimates are that she may have treated more than 15,000 patients at the clinic during her tenure at Tyson.

Records reportedly show that Blair graduated from the nursing program at TCAT of McMinnville in 2007. However, the same records reportedly revealed she did not pass the required exam, therefore meaning she was not licensed despite getting the education.

While treating patients for a decade and a half, all reportedly without being officially licensed, it is not believed she was able to distribute drugs as part of her responsibilities as on-campus nurse.
