Motorcyclists hits runner at Moon Pie festival run

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office have arrested two motorcyclists who, at the Bell Buckle RC and Moon Pie Festival, came through a blocked off area, hit and severely injured one of the runners of the 5K.
The Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects followin the incident on Saturday, June 17. The department stated it has identified one of the male subject, the one in the tank top, and still needs the public’s help identifying the male subject in the shorts and black and white jacket.
The department announced Thursday evening that they had arrested Micheal Lee Grimmett, 30, was taken into custody on Tuesday, June 20 and charged with felony evading arrest and reckless endangerment. The other suspect James Nicholas Barrett, 31, was taken into custody on Thursday, June 22, and was charged with aggravated assault, felony evading errest, reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, reckless driving, and improper registration.
“We would like to thank the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and the Cannon County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case,” Bedford County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. “We would also like to thank the public for all information and assistance that helped lead to the identification and apprehension of these two individuals.”
