Motlow State men’s basketball fans are in for a treat this season as star Georgia wing Anfernee Hanna has signed to continue his athletic and academic career at Motlow.
Hanna, originally from Nassau, Bahamas, put up legend-like numbers at Tallulah Falls High School in Georgia. He is the winningest player in school history with 65 victories. He scored 1,204 points and pulled down 620 rebounds, ranking third and second, respectively, in school history. He also had 124 assists, 97 steals, and 32 blocked shots.
“Anfernee is certainly one of our key additions to this year’s squad,” said Motlow Head Coach Arthur Latham. “He is a long, athletic wing who can do a lot of special things on the court. His numbers speak for themselves. I expect him to compete for a starting spot when we start fall practice.”
Hanna’s average of 18.8 points per game in his final season is also the best in school history. He had three 30-point games and five 25-point-plus games. His 132 free throws made during the 2022-23 season is a school record.
The spectacular statistics by Hanna, and his leadership on a winning team, did not go unnoticed by Georgia media. Hanna was named second Team All-State following his senior season and was a two-time All-Region selection. He led his team to its first region title in school history, and to the state playoffs in all four seasons.
