She’s a Thief

God’s wild and noisy sea is a thief

She stole my heart long ago

With the beauty of her sun-swept waves

And her mysteries hidden deep below.

She always runs away, though

Throwing her mist into the air

Thundering against the rocks and the shore

Creating within me a little bit of fear.

But – there is no fear in her!

I love her boisterous attitude

For some unexplained reason

It brings forth in me a quiet solitude.

Then, as I listen, I hear her music

A symphony of worship and adoration

A full orchestra of praise

Inviting me to join the celebration.

I’ll be forever grateful

For the friend known as the sea

As I stand and watch her run away

I know those waves were meant for me.
