Car thief in big trouble after interstate chase
Franklin County authorities are throwing the book at a car thief after he fled lawmen until crashing in Marion County.
The suspect, Bryan Ray Phillips was taken in custody Monday in Marion County.
“One of our deputies pursued a stolen car from our county into Marion County,” a Franklin County Sheriff’s spokesman revealed. “The stolen vehicle exited the Interstate (I-24) in Kimball and crashed into a tree.”
Bryan fled from the crash on foot. Kimball Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Franklin County deputies set a perimeter around the area. THP provided a helicopter to assist in the search as well. The search was subsequently called off, and the Franklin County deputies returned to our county.
Bryan was later found by officers from the Kimball Police Department and taken into custody.
Bryan was charged with the following charges in Marion County:
-Felony Evading
-Reckless Endangerment
-Burglary
-Vandalism
-Driving on a Suspended License
-Resisting Arrest
When he is released from Marion County, he will face the following charges in Franklin County:
-Theft of Motor Vehicle
-Attempted Theft of Motor Vehicle
-Aggravated Burglary X3
-Felony Evading
-Burglary
-Theft of Property
-Vandalism X2
