‘Armed’ thief flees Walmart on bicycle

An alleged shoplifter with a weapon strapped to his hip found himself staring down the barrel of a policeman’s gun after he fled the scene of the crime on a bicycle.
The suspect, Jonathan Weiner, 35, is charged with shoplifting and possession of drugs. He was arrested after Walmart security noticed him filling a backpack with merchandise and then leaving without paying three days earlier. When he returned, police were called but warned the offender may be armed.
“Police were informed that the subject from Friday was back in the store actively shoplifting with the handle of a pistol exposed on his hip,” the police report revealed.
Police arrived and found the suspect fleeing the scene of the crime on bicycle. Officer turned on their blue lights and ordered the alleged thief to stop.
“An investigator held the subject at gunpoint and was able to disarm him and place him into custody,” the report said.
The gun that was taken off of Weiner was found to be an air soft gun. Along with the gun, police found a pouch that he allegedly dropped during the pursuit containing meth.
Weiner is charged with stealing $714 from the Tullahoma Walmart.
