Wildcats finish third in the Cookeville Early Bird Invitational

The Tullahoma high school golf team finished third in the Cookeville Early Bird Invitational with a total score of 338, five strokes higher than the second place finishers. This brings the team’s record to 17-8 on the year.
The Wildcats scored nine strokes fewer than their last 18-hole competition. During the Early Bird Invitational Alex Miller led the way for the ‘Cats with a 79, Caden Finchum and Jack Hill followed with 86 each, and Keegan Taylor added a 87 to the team’s score. That made the team total 338, the score not counted for that group was Brody Fulmer’s score of 96. The whole team shot under 90, showing continued improvement as the season as gone on. Last tournament they all finished under 100, which was better than the first tournament they competed in. The second group of Tullahoma boys scored a 388. Jesse Gillis led the way with an 89, followed by Andrew Fulmer with a 92, Hudson Stroop with a 102, and Brycen Campbell rounding it out with a 105.
Myla Dennis shot a 94 finishing tied for the seventh best score from any of the girls who competed. This was her second best score of the year, two strokes behind the best score she put up. The tournament requires two scores for a girls’ team, so Tullahoma did not place.
The Wildcats next competition will be the Franklin County High School Invitational on August 16. They will have 10 boys and their one girl competing in the event.
