St. Andrews volleyball defeats Berean Academy

St. Andrew’s-Sewanee Varsity Volleyball team defeated Berean Academy Tuesday night 20-25, 20-25, 26-24, 25-21 and 17-15.

The Mountain Lions came back to tie the match up 2-2 after dropping the first two sets. Berean Academy jumped out to a 0-8 lead before SAS rallied to tie the game up and eventually take the final set 17-15. Anja Dombrowski scored the final two points. Dombrowski five aces; three kills; 21 assists; Reese Michaels seven aces, nine digs; Ivy Moser nine kills, six kills; Charlie Buckner nine kills, six digs, three aces; Maggie Desjarlais four aces; Emily Leathers seven kills, three blocks. SAS is 1-1 on the season.

Head Coach Rob Zeitler said, “The official said it best, ‘That performance is the definition of never give up’.  I could not be prouder of how hard we fought for each point. Both teams played really well.”
