Penn Station quietly closes

The train has left the station as Penn Station East Coast Subs has closed its doors in Tullahoma after nearly three years.
Residents took notice around mid-August that the sandwich shop, located at 1609 N. Jackson St., seemed to have closed for good. The News reached out to Penn Station East Coast Subs and according to a representative, the Tullahoma location on Sun, Aug. 13, due to not performing well.
“The restaurant was not performing as the franchisees expected and they decided to relocate it in the future,” the representative said.
When asked further about relocating of the sandwich shop in the future, the representative stated there was no indication from officials where they would consider relocating or when, noting Penn Station could return to a different spot in Tullahoma
“The franchisees are focusing on the remaining stores in their Nashville market,” the representative said.
Penn Station East Coast Subs opened in October 2020 at the former location of Jimmy John’s, which had closed permanently in February that year after being open for more than two years. Penn Station wasn’t the only sandwich shop to close its doors in the past year as local restaurant Get Moore Sandwiches and Subs announced its closure in December 2022. Currently, City Sandwich Company Jersey Mike’s, McAlister’s Deli and Subway are the sandwich eateries in Tullahoma.
