Autumn’s Appeal

The sky is overcast and gray

Maple leaves are turning their first blush of copper

All the roses in the garden have begun to fade

Signs that Fall has arrived and we can’t stop her.

She brings the first dread of winter

Thoughts of coats and gloves come to mind

Yet, Autumn has a beauty all her own

This is her time to shine.

Leaves of every shape and hue

Pumpkins … splendor in the field

Apples in the lunchbox

Speak of Autumn’s annual appeal.

Hayrides and festivals

Thanksgiving’s holiday

Being a joyous celebration

To her glorious display.

Though winter lies on the horizon

Each season offers her own bit of grace

Our gratitude for the Father’s creation

Winter’s chill cannot erase.
