Cross Country continues to bring medals home

The Tullahoma Middle School Cross Country girls’ team have finished first in their last two meets.

The first was the Milton Invitational on Sat, Sep. 16. The team finished 13 points ahead of the second place team and had a team average time of 15minutes 11 seconds. The Lady Wildcats had three top 10 finishes: Katie Grace Nichols in third, Ashleigh Johnson in fifth and Addison Vincent in eighth. The boys’ team did not fare as well overall in the Invitational, but Lincoln Bitton placed fourth with a time of 12:22.46 and brought home a medal. 

The Middle School ‘Cats followed up that strong performance with another one Tuesday at Henry Horton State Park. The girls won the meet and the boys finished second. The girls beat the other six teams and had three medalists again. Johnson led the Lady ‘Cats finishing fifth overall with a time of 13:59. Sophie Call placed seventh in 14:08 and Julianna Ites placed at 12 with a time of 14:21. The boys were led by Bitton again who finished in 12:09 which was good enough for fifth place out of 151 runners. They had two other medalists, Wyatt Dorsett and William Nichols. Dorsett’s time was 12:56 so he finished at 11 and Nichols placed at 15 in 13:25. The Middle School Cross Country teams competed Saturday at Buckner Park, but results were not available in time for print. This meet is the qualifier for the TMSAA State Championships, the top eight teams and top 10 individual runners not on a qualifying team will go to the Championships.

The High School teams have also been bringing home medals. The girls’ team won their meet at Lincoln County and the boys’ team finished second. All six girls finished in the top fifteen runners at Lincoln County. Ellie Uehlein was the first finisher, followed immediately by Lexi Lester in second, Sarah Eakin in fourth, Jordyn Spry right behind her in fifth, Audrey Sohrabi in eighth and Bella Rivera at 13. Uehlein and Rivera set Personal Records at the meet. For the boy’s team they had three medalists: Lukas Price who was second overall, Brayden Johnson right behind him in third and Will Swiger who came in at 10. All three of them also set a Personal Record.

The Girls’ team followed up their win with a second place finish out of 11 teams at their meet at the Henry Horton State Park. They at three girls medal: Uehlein, Lester and Eakin. Uehlein finished first out of 129 runners with a time of 19:57. Lester placed sixth in 21:38 and Eakin finished at 8 in 21:55. The other three girls still finished in the top 50 runners. Sohrabi came in at 20, Spry at 25 and Rivera at 47. The boy’s team placed 11 out of 21 teams. The team did not have a medalist, but they had four runners finish in the top 100 runners out of 254. Price led the ‘Cats at 38, Johnson was next in 45, Swiger was at 58 and Brady Welch came in at 80.

The next meet for the High School teams is Thursday. They will be competing in the Sequatchie County Meet at John Griswold Park.
