D.W. Wilson named new polling location for District 9-1

Tullahoma voters in District 9-1 will no longer cast their ballots at Wilson Avenue Church of Christ, according to the Coffee County Election Commission.

In May, Wilson Avenue Church of Christ closed its doors and, according to Elections Administrator Andy Farrar, contacted the Coffee County Election Commission to notify them of their closing and selling the building. Farrar said he then looked for new locations that have been used in the past, as well as other buildings that could serve as voting locations.

“With the redistricting, we combined some locations, we have larger voting precincts now with more registered voters,” Farrar said.

He said he contacted Tullahoma Parks and Recreation Director J.P. Kraft about using D.W. Wilson Community Center at 501 N. Collins St. due to having the parking, ADA compliant ramps and having the meeting rooms opened to the public.

“I felt like that was the best location in that district,” Farrar said.

Farrar presented and requested the Coffee County Election Commission to approve to move the District 9-1 voting precinct to D.W. Wilson Community Center at its June meeting. The motion to approve D.W Wilson Community Center as the new voting precinct for District 9-1 passed unanimously.

Farrar said all voters in the district were notified of the change in polling location with letters explaining the move and were sent new voter cards.

Those who did not receive either letter or new voting cards to contact the Election Commission’s office at 931-723-5103. The Election Commission office is located at the Coffee County Administrative Plaza at 1329 McArthur St, Suite 6, in Manchester.
