Bucks down Pellissippi State to clinch TCCAA Title
The Motlow Bucks women’s soccer squad clinched its third consecutive Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) regular season title with a 3-0 shutout over Pellissippi State Wednesday afternoon at the Bucks home field.
Motlow (9-1-2) has four games remaining, including on the road for a rematch with Pellissippi on Oct. 12 in Knoxville, and a non-conference match at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA on Oct. 14. The regular season ends Oct. 20 with the Bucks hosting Polk State College at 4 p.m.
Alexis McMath got the scoring started for Motlow at the 10-minute mark with a goal on assists by Camden Prosser and Libby Vincent. Alba Embid scored at 25 minutes on assists from Reagan Miller and McMath. Motlow led 2-0 at halftime.
Alysa Benton closed the scoring seven minutes into the second half on a goal assisted by Ellie Kirk and Prosser. Motlow’s goalkeepers were spectacular, with Alina Arneth notching three saves in the first half and Lucy Riddle two saves in the final 45 minutes.
Motlow out-shot the Panthers 17-6. Kaite Jones had five shots, including two on goal, while McMath shot four times, with three on goal. McMath and Prosser are tied for the team lead with six assists each, while Prosser leads Motlow scorers with five goals. Ten different Motlow players have scored goals during the season.
