City officials have announced Tullahoma Police Chief Jason Williams has submitted his resignation to the city of Tullahoma.

According to City Administrator Jason Quick, his last official day on the job will be Fri, Nov. 10. 

“I am very thankful for the opportunity I have had to lead the men and women of the TPD as well as serve this great community,” Williams said in a statement. “I will always cherish my time here as well as the great partnerships and relationships I have had the opportunity to be a part of.”  

Quick said he expressed his appreciation for the efforts and leadership Williams has displayed during his tenure as police chief. 

“On behalf of the citizens of Tullahoma, I want to thank Chief Williams for leading our police department for the past four years,” he said. “He has well-represented the city with exemplary character and integrity while guiding the department and its officers.”

Prior to the departure date, Quick said the city will seek to name an interim replacement from within the current ranks of the department. Over the next several weeks, the process for selecting the next police chief of Tullahoma will be created and announced. 

“Tullahoma is blessed to have an outstanding group of men and women who serve faithfully to protect the city and its residents,” Quick said. “As the city begins its newest stage of strategic growth, it is critical to identify and hire a leader for our police department who will continue to inspire from within and provide the necessary leadership, training and resources needed to allow our first responders to be ideally prepared to meet the challenges of their positions.

Quick added that a national search will be conducted to find the best possible candidate for both the city and the department.
