Julia “Julie” Maxfield Cable Obituary
Julia “Julie” Maxfield Cable passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Andersonville, TN on May 4, 2023, after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s dementia. Julie was born June 12, 1931 in Bradford, Yorkshire England to George William Maxfield and Phillis Standage Maxfield. She had two older sisters Freda and Dorothy.
Julie grew up during the Second World War in Great Britain. She was active in the Girl Guides as a girl & enjoyed camping and hiking. After school she went to work at a chemist shop (pharmacy) until she met the love of her life John Cable on New Year’s Eve of 1952. Julie and John had four children, Michael, David, Christine & Mary. In 1963 they emigrated to the United States of America for John to work at ARO. Julie got involved in Scouting and the family joined Trinity Lutheran Church.
The family became Naturalized American Citizens in 1969 in a ceremony attended by many Boy & Girl Scouts. Julie was heavily involved in Girl Scouting, being Association Chairman, on the camp committee, and troop leader to many girls, taking them on adventures and also to the World Center in Mexico.
After retirement Julie & John enjoyed traveling the world, entertaining grandchildren and researching their family history.
Julie was preceded in death by her husband John, son Michael, sisters Freda and Dorothy, daughter in law Lynda and grandson Dylan. Julie is survived by her loving children, David Cable of Bedford IN, Christine Cyree (Mike) of Andersonville TN and Mary Rogers (Chuck) of Tullahoma, four grandchildren and their spouses, and three great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews in the UK.
Services will be Nov. 25 at Faith Lutheran Church, 101 Bragg Circle, in Tullahoma with visitation with the family at 2 p.m. and service at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Julie’s name may be made to Girl Scouts of America, Habitat for Humanity, Doctors without Borders, Faith Lutheran Church or your favorite animal shelter/rescue.
