O Christmas Tree – South Jackson’s ‘Trees of Christmas’ returns
KYLE MURPHYStaff Writer
It’s that time of year where Tullahoma residents can venture to see the trees most lovely at South Jackson’s fourth annual “Trees of Christmas” event.
This year’s “Trees of Christmas” will be taking place from Wed, Nov. 29 through Sun, Dec. 3 at the performing arts center. Tree viewing times will be: Nov. 29 and 30 from 6 – 9 p.m.; Dec. 1 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. and during the Christmas parade after party at 8 p.m.; Dec. 2 from noon to 8 p.m. and Dec. 3 from 2 – 6 p.m.
Admission for the fourth annual “Trees of Christmas” will be $5 a ticket or $20 for a household ticket. This year’s nonprofit organization to receive a portion of the proceeds will be Come to the Table.
“Our forest of uniquely-decorated trees will line the halls and exhibit areas of South Jackson Performing Arts Center offering visitors the opportunity to stroll at their leisure while enjoying beautiful Christmas chamber music, hot chocolate, coffees, ciders and baked goods all included in your price of admission,” South Jackson officials said in a statement. “Perfect for family and friends visiting during the holidays, entertainment for children, and inspiration for your own holiday decorating and more.”
During the event, attendees will get a chance to vote for their favorite trees in the categories of “People’s Choice”, “Best Theme” and “Most Creative”.
South Jackson is still accepting tree sponsors. For $50 as a sponsor, businesses will be provided a 7 – foot tree to decorate with their own decorations and tree skirt to help make the trees festive for the community to enjoy.
“We are looking for the trees to be festive and something that our community would enjoy coming to see,” event organizers said. “If you participated last season we ask that your tree have a different look. We want the public to anticipate coming to see something different every year.”
A sign with the business name and logo will be provided, as well as a stand for the business’ items like brochures to be given out, and the business or organization would be advertised on all of SJPAC’s media outlets as a sponsor.
The trees will ready for decoration Sunday, Nov. 19 from 2–6 p.m.; Monday, Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Nov.22, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Monday, Nov. 27, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. If none of those times work, then the businesses and organizations will need to make an appointment before Nov. 27 to decorate their tree. To arrange a time to decorate a tree, email marketing@southjackson.org. When the holiday season is over, all the decorations will be placed in a box to be returned to the businesses.
