East Panthers fall to Red Raiders

East Middle School’s Basketball teams hosted the Coffee County Red Raiders and fell in both games.
The girls fell 55-21 and the boys fell 29-14.
East was led in scoring by Anabelle Smith and Gena Hickerson scoring 6 points each. Jenslee Nogodula led Coffee County with 20 points.
The Lady Panthers had a hard time scoring in the first half, only scoring 4 points. Diamond Blair and Smith both scored 2 points. They went into the half down 35-4.
East outscored Coffee County in the third quarter 17-15. Hickerson scored all of her 6 points in the quarter. Maisey Hubbard scored 5 points including a made 3-pointer. Smith scored 4 points and Katelin Jones scored 2 points. With the score being 50-21 after the third, the clock was running the entire fourth quarter. Coffee County scored the only 5 points of the quarter, for a final score of 55-21.
The Panther were led in scoring by Colton Tinnon and Julius Jones with 6 points each. Landyn Stiefel led the Raiders with 7 points.
East had a 4-3 lead in the first quarter after Tinnon made two shots, but Coffee went on a 6-0 run to end the quarter and take a 9-4 lead into the second.
The Panthers scored 6 points in the second. Tinnon scored his last bucket of the game. Jones scored his first 2 points and Chris Taylor scored his only 2 points of the contest. The Red Raiders scored 5 points to take a 14-10 lead into halftime.
East went ice cold from the field in the third quarter unable to get anything to fall. They were outscored 9-0 in the third, to go into the fourth down 23-10. The Panthers ended the scoreless streak with 4 points from Jones in the fourth. That was all the scoring for East on the night as they went down 29-14.
East travelled to North Franklin Middle Thu, Nov. 30 but the results were unavailable at the time of print. They will be having eighth grade appreciation night on Monday against South Franklin. The festivities will be at 5:30 p.m. before the girls’ game at 6 p.m.
