Wanda Michelle Monroe Obituary
Wanda Michelle Monroe, 65, of Unionville, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023.
She was born in Flint, Michigan on Feb. 23, 1958. A talented seamstress, she had worked at Courtesy Dry Cleaners in Tullahoma for 25 years until her retirement. She was an active foster with the RUFF Animal Rescue Program, where she had fostered over 100 cats and dogs. She will be remembered for her kind and loving nature, to her family, friends, and animals, as well as for always being there for her family, especially supporting her grandchildren in all of their activities. Wanda was a member of First Baptist Church in Lynchburg. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Jay Griffith; nephew, Keith Stanard; brother-in-law, Kenneth Standard; mother-in-law, Ruby Monroe; and father-in-law, James Monroe.
Wanda is survived by her loving children, Denise (Roy) Sutton, and Michael (Deddie) Monroe; grandchildren, J. Tyler Pendergrast, Kiara Sutton, Sarah (Donnie) Carroll, Brianna Sutton, Zacary Monroe, Zander Monroe, Jayden Lucas-Monroe, and Jayse Monroe; mother, Dianne Griffith; siblings, Cheryl (Doug) Richardson, and Debbie Stanard; several nieces and nephews; and father of her children, Dennis Monroe.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
