Nine local nonprofit organizations will receive funds courtesy of the Tullahoma Utilities Authority’s Round Up program.
During its December meeting, the Tullahoma Utilities Authority board of directors met and discussed the disbursement of the funds from the program. According to TUA President Brian Skelton, the TUA Round Up Allocation Committee met prior to the board meeting on Dec. 7 to discuss applications for the program awards and to make suggestions for the board to consider, with board member Patty Deen in attendance.
TUA’s Round Up Program is funded by TUA customers via utility bills rounded up to the nearest dollar, and, per the memo, anticipates having approximately $56,500 available by the end of the year from the 2023 collections.
Skelton told the board that TUA received nine applications from charitable organizations in the Tullahoma area. He said the allocation committee recommended the disbursement of payments to the following:
- $550 each month to The Henry Center and Good Samaritan
- One-time payment of $2,000 each to the Tullahoma Day Care Center and to Hospice of the Highland Rim.
- One-time payment of $4,000 to Come to the Table, Inc.
- One-time payment of $5,000 each to The Attic Outlet, Shepherd’s House, the Coffee County Salvation Army and Partners for Healing.
Skelton said the total of the disbursement to all nine organizations would be $41,200.
With no further discussion, the board of directors unanimously approved the Round Up Program to disburse the payments to the nine nonprofit organization. TUA Board Chairman JT Northcutt then thanked Skelton and the leaders of the organization for overseeing the Round Up Program.
