Tullahoma wrestling going to State

The Wildcats’ Wrestling team hosted a sectional match at the Welsh Wrestling Center against Greenbrier and won 51-29 to advance to the State dual championship for the third straight year.

Caiden Mears started the match off for Tullahoma with a pin 73 seconds into the 144 pound class matchup. Corbin Avans followed that up with a pin of his own 1:48 into his matchup to give the ‘Cats a very quick 12-0 lead. Greenbrier cut the lead in half getting a win by pin in the 157 pound matchup. Roman Sintic got Tullahoma back on track with a pin in the second period at 3:40 match time. Connor Avans then quickly pinned his opponent in the 175 class matchup, finishing the match in just 56 seconds. Expanding the ‘Cats lead to 24-6.Carson Avans kept the strong work going with another pin. This time at 1:38 into the match. Chandler Kile won the first match that went the distance 5-3. This gave Tullahoma a 33-6 lead with seven matches left. Robert Tatum was up next and pinned his opponent at 1:47 to give the Wildcats the 39-6 lead. Sayvion Surles effectively ended the match with a pin in the second period of his match. Surles’ win gave Tullahoma a 45-12 lead with just four matches left. Andres Hamilton truly ended every hope for Greenbrier with a pin in the second period to make it 51-23 Wildcats.

Tullahoma will compete at the Williamson County Expo Center in Franklin on Saturday. They will be on mat 8 for their first match against Signal Mountain at 9 a.m. If they win they will face the winner of Millington/Pigeon Forge at 1 p.m. If they lose, they will face the loser of Millington/Pigeon Forge at 11 a.m.
