One person was killed in a crash on Interstate 24 this past Thursday near mile marker 105, causing traffic to be backed up for hours this past week.
According to the report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2004 Toyota Sienna, driven by Rosemary Jones, 63, was traveling south of the interstate just behind a 2024 Freightliner Tractor Trailer, driven by Muhammad Iqbal, 50.
At around the 105 mile marker, traffic began to slow or stop in front of the tractor trailer, and the Sienna was unable to stop and attempted to avoid the trailer, and made initial impact with the right-side of the trailer, according to the report.
Both drivers and passengers were wearing their seatbelts, and other than the fatality, the passengers in the vehicle and in the tractor trailer were not injured. No charges were filed.
