Middle School ‘Cats win District match

The Tullahoma Middle School tennis season is in full swing and the ‘Cats are 2-3 overall and 1-1 in district play.
The Wildcats opened the season with wins over Moore County. The boys’ and girls’ teams both won 6-1. The teams lost their district opener at Shelbyville. The boys fell 4-5 and the girls 1-8. Tullahoma dropped another game at St. Andrews Sewanee. The girls lost 2-5 and boys fell 0-7. The Wildcats got back on track in their second district battle at Lincoln County, with both teams picking up big wins. The boys won 7-1 and the girls 8-0. The next game was the ‘Cats home opener against Winchester Christian Academy. TMS lost, boys 1-6 and girls 0-7. The Wildcats played all younger players giving their starters the night off.
The standouts for the boys’ team so far through the season have been Carter Woodward, William Dawe, Tyler Pham, Griffin Moyers and Evan Nalin. The Lady ‘Cat standouts have been Wen Ni Lin, Jacy Kate Murray, Tinsley Poston, Abby Quick, Mae Reed and Hartleigh McMurtry.
This year’s group is the largest team TMS has ever had. There are 11 boys and 22 girls on roster. The Wildcats team includes: Woodward, Dawe, Peyton Miller, Pham, Nalin, Moyers, Phineas Flowers, Fletcher Orr, Levi Jones, Malachi Reed and Grayson Sterling. The members of the Lady ‘Cats are: Lin, Murray, Reed, Georgia Quick, Abby Quick, Poston, Giuliana Abraham, Narissa Stevenson, Natalie Davis, Callie Murray, Carly Logan, Isla Carlton, McMurtry, Lainee Parris, Lilyanne Dorman, Alysia Dodson, Lydia Gilliam, Mattie Hodges, Aliyah Naylor, Destiny Fleury and Hannah Tipps.
Tullahoma is scheduled to host Lincoln County on Thursday at 4 p.m.
