Local nonprofit organizations Community Care Ministries, Inc. and Isaiah 117 House were presented generous donations from the GFWC Centennial Woman’s Club of Tullahoma to the tune of over $14,000 in total.

The members of the GFWC Centennial Women’s Club spent the morning of June 12 presenting the donation checks to both nonprofit organizations. According to GFWC Centennial Woman’s Club of Tullahoma President Tanya Sheeley, the organization donated $7,337.50 to Community Care Ministries, Inc. and $7,462.50 to Isaiah 117 House, where the money was raised during the annual Live on the Lawn fundraiser that took place in May. Sheeley added there was an item that was auctioned off where the seller requested that the proceeds go directly to Isaiah 117 House.

The mission of Community Cares Ministries, Inc. is to help the physical and emotional needs as others as the organization seeks to share the love of Jesus Christ to meet their spiritual needs, as well as to seek to prevent homelessness by assisting low income and vulnerable families. The main source of income for Community Cares Ministries, Inc. is The Attic Outlet thrift store, which takes donations from the community.

Isaiah 117 House’s mission is to provide a house for children who are being placed into homes by the Department of Child Services. The house will have volunteers who will provide the children clean clothes, toys, blankets and other necessities while DCS staff find a good foster placement. The house is designed for children to stay 24 hours or less. The Coffee-Franklin-Grundy County house opened in 2022 in Monteagle.
