The University of Tennessee at Martin held its annual Honors Day Ceremony on April 14 to recognize students who excel as scholars and leaders. Samantha Wade, of Tullahoma, received the Ernest and Wilma Newby Scholarship Award.  This award is given to two students majoring in history, criminal justice or political science who have, if possible, some military connection.  Recipients are selected by the History faculty.
