Former Deputy Parks and Recreation Director and City Forester Lyle Russell has recently taken up the role of the city’s Community Engagement Officer.
Russell is taking the public relations position following the departure of former Community Engagement Officer Emma Cook who is now Tullahoma Utility Authority’s Director of Marketing and Strategic Initiatives.
Russell shared a statement to The News that he is grateful for his past eight years in the Parks and Recreation Department.
“I am looking forward to working with all our city departments in this new role,” he said.
He added that he has “some great plans” to advance city communication outlets and also improve special events. He said that he was looking into grant opportunities that the city is looking at well.
“I will work to the best of my ability keeping Tullahoma moving in a positive direction and with a bright future,” he said.
City Administrator Jason Quick commented on Russell’s long-time service to the community.
“Lyle Russell has long been a staple for the City of Tullahoma while serving in various roles within the Parks and Recreation Department. During his time there, he has become well-known for his effective communication skills and ability to create impactful messages on multiple platforms to reach all his intended audiences,” he said.
He said Russell will “be able to expand his messaging by incorporating all the departments with the City of Tullahoma and raise the level of community awareness of all of the exciting news and events in Tullahoma as we enter a new chapter of strategic, quality growth.”
Quick also highlighted Russell’s relationship with the community of Tullahoma as a strength regarding his new role.
“I am proud to have Lyle Russell join the administrative staff and am confident his efforts will lead to bringing further together our already close-knit community,” he said.
