Tullahoma Downtown Lions member Brian “BB” Brown was conferred the prestigious Melvin Jones Award this past week during a surprise presentation at the club’s meeting.

Named after one of the original Lions that was formed in 1917 to help those in need, the award is given to persons who are an example of the soul for service that Jones showed in the early days of the Lions. It is one of the most prestigious awards in the Lions international organization.

“He is always eager to serve,” said TDL Outgoing President Steven Prince in leading up to revealing the recipient of the award. “When you need him, he is there. He is one of the best cheerleaders I know.”

When Brown was revealed as the recipient of the award, he graciously accepted in front of his family who had been invited to witness the surprise award.

“I’m humbled,” he said. “I’m actually at a loss for words.”
