The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department is investigating human remains that were found near a railroad in Manchester.
In a press release, Coffee County Sheriff Chad Partin said deputies responded to a call at Vaughn Speckleton Road in Manchester on Sunday, Aug. 25, around 1:45 p.m. due to finding human remains near the railroad tracks.
“Human remains were located by a subject checking their deer cameras,” Partin said. “Coffee County Sheriff’s Investigators along with Manchester Police Department Investigators and Coffee County EMS Director Michael Bonner processed the scene and the area around the remains.”
He added the remains were transported by Coffee County EMS for pick up by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
The human remains are not being investigated as a homicide, per Partin.
“Currently this is not being investigated as a homicide but a possible natural caused death,” Partin said. “The State Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating to identify the person.”
Once the identification is completed, both the sheriff’s office and Manchester Police Department will follow up with more information.
