Ann Carolyn Rowland Byrom Obituary

Ann Carolyn Rowland Byrom, 86, of Tullahoma, departed this life peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at Lynchburg Nursing Center.

“Ann C.” was born in Tullahoma to the late Gilbert “Gillie” Rowland and Lula Pearl Byrom Rowland on April 27, 1938. She was a proud graduate of Tullahoma High School, Class of 1956.  She was the class historian and continued to organize their class reunions, with the last one being held at Gondola Restaurant in 2021, celebrating their 65th class reunion. Ann married Bill Byrom on Feb. 22, 1957, while Bill was enlisted in the US Air Force. They lived in Texas and Alaska during his enlistment. Ann was proud to have lived in Alaska when it became a state of the union. After Bill’s enlistment they moved back to Tullahoma. Ann began her career at AEDC right out of high school and then continued working as a civil servant for the US Air Force while in Texas and Alaska. Upon return to Tullahoma, she continued to work at AEDC from 1961 until her retirement in 1999. She worked as a stenographer out of high school and upon her return to Tullahoma, she worked as a secretary and then as an administrative assistant. At the time of her retirement, she was working as a budget analyst. Ann was member of Trinity Lutheran Church since the 1960’s and was active in quilting for missions during her retirement. Ann was also involved in the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and Military Comptrollers. Ann enjoyed sewing, painting, calligraphy, and baking. She will remembered by her grandchildren for warm snuggles on the couch reading bedtime stories. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Bill Byrom.

She is survived by her children, Mr. and Mrs. Steven (Simone) Byrom and Drs. Greg (Abbie) Byrom, and her grandchildren, Luke and Eleanor. She survived by her loving extended family and many dear friends.

Services for Ann Byrom will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Tullahoma at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Alex Hoffner officiating. Visitation will start at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers Ann desired that donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 705 Wilson Ave, Tullahoma, TN 37388.
