Teen torches structure to watch fire trucks
A teen faces criminal charges after he allegedly set fire to his grandfather’s property so he could watch the fire trucks come to fight the fire.
The suspect, Matthew Donovan Howell, 19, is charged with setting fire to personal property for the incident that happened last month.
According to the arrest warrant, a structure was set on fire, causing some $40,000 worth of damage. An investigation of the blaze revealed that the property owner’s son had allegedly set the fire on purpose.
“The investigator determined that Matthew Howell, the grandson of the property owner, set the structure on fire because he likes the fire trucks and wanted to watch them put out the fire,” the warrant revealed.
The suspect is to remain on house arrest with GPS monitoring pending his trial as part of his bond.
