‘Testaments’ premieres at Unitarian Universalist Church of Tullahoma
Local playwright Warren Gore is set to debut his staged reading of an original play, “Testaments,” on Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. The performance will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tullahoma, located at 3536 New Manchester Hwy, and is free to the public.
“Testaments” unfolds during a tumultuous thunderstorm that threatens the community, where Doreen hosts a ceramics workshop at her home alongside friends Paula and Etta Mae. As the storm rages outside, the women navigate their complex friendships and unveil long-buried secrets, particularly when Etta Mae’s teenage daughter unexpectedly arrives.
Meanwhile, Doreen’s husband, Big John, and his friends Jess and Wayne are caught in a reflective moment as they plan a retirement party at the Fools Rush Inn. As the storm intensifies, the men grapple with their own life choices and the direction they’ve taken, while Little John struggles to carve out his own identity amid the chaos.
“Testaments” is an exploration of relationships, personal growth and the challenges of life transitions, capturing the essence of community and the intricacies of human connections, all set against the backdrop of a powerful storm.
