Coca-Cola delivery through the years

A

Coca-Cola has been bottled in Tullahoma since 1906, when Frank D. Tate opened the company’s first bottling plant in a frame building on West Lincoln Street, immediately west of Rock Creek. That was just four years after the beverage began to be sold in bottles. In 1908, they moved to a brick building at the corner of Atlantic and Grundy Streets. In 1941, the company built its Art Deco building on Wilson Avenue, which still stands and is known as the Coker Building. In 1973, Coca-Cola Bottling of Tullahoma moved to its current location on Highway 55. During those years, the delivery methods changed somewhat, from horse and wagon rigs to trucks. This week, we’re looking at a handful of those delivery vehicles.

This week’s photographs are courtesy of Sandy Ennis and are from the Ennis Collection.
