Devil in disguise?
First, I want to be wrong. I hear words like fascist all too often in referring to the Republican Party now taken over by the Right Wing. My own view is that the American people are unknowingly headed into a modern-day feudal system reminiscent of medieval times. I have always felt that we must trust the American voter. Now, I’m not so sure.
Thus far, the right wing seems to be occupying all seats of power with a packed court, armed with both houses of the legislative branch, and beholding to the orange leader of the executive branch – which by-the-by seems destined to hold the Department of Justice hostage as well. This political maneuver will not take place overnight, the same as Rome was not built in a day. However, make no mistake, satan (small case letters intentional) disguises himself as an angel of light. The devil’s minions change themselves into secretaries of righteousness.
Once the First Amendment is neutered, teachers turned into vassals, the health, environment, and social systems gutted, our neighbors, children and grandchildren turned against one another, the devil will appear from behind the cross. Without opposition the devil on the shoulders of those in power will always win. Of course, that will be too late.
Overreacting? Maybe. Let’s give it a few years and see what happens when the mid-terms will be upon us and see if that alters the make-up in Congress. My father often quipped that politicians, even ones running for constable, in their hearts, believe they are presidential timber. So, make no mistake, folks that are elected and particularly, those appointed are power hungry. Utter chaos? We’ll see. Let’s hope and pray the people who have made America great are not rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell.
