Nearly 500 runners gathered Saturday morning at the starting line in downtown Tullahoma for the Tullahoma Area Chamber of Commerce’s fifth annual Wobble Gobble 5K.
According to the Tullahoma Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Hope Nunley, this year’s turnout saw record breaking registration as 483 runners signed up, and 367 crossed the finish line.
“We had 483 participants sign up in our fifth year,” Nunley said. “That was a record.”
In addition to the participants, Nunley said there were hundreds in attendance joining in on the festivities and cheering on the runners as they made their way through downtown Tullahoma. She noted there was an area called Runners Row where nonprofits could set up booths for free, and pass out information about their organization.
Though the morning was a bit cool, Nunley said the weather was the perfect for the runners and everyone had a great time.
“The overall atmosphere of the event was, everybody was just so happy, uplifted and in a good mood,” Nunley said. “All the runners had a wonderful experience. We were just happy to see all the entries from Tullahoma surrounding areas and even out of state. It was a huge tourism draw for downtown Tullahoma.”
During the Wobble Gobble 5K, runners ran through parts of downtown that highlighted several businesses and notable locations like the Tullahoma Fine Arts Center, South Jackson Performing Arts Center, multiple historic downtown churches, City Hall, History Park and so on.
This year’s winner in the Overall Male category was Jack Pazin of Columbia, and he set a new course record by finishing the Wobble Gobble 5K in 15 minutes and 49 seconds. The Overall Female winner was Chelsey Morris, who completed the race in 21 minutes and 55 seconds.
Nunley then thanked Chick-fil-a, F.I.T Beyond Therapy, First Bank, Sherrill Pest Control, Fogarty & Roberson Orthodontics and Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital for helping with sponsoring the event.
